Dismantling of a rotary dryer from a production facility in one of the chemical plant departments, with a length of 27.4 m, a diameter of 3.6 m, and a unit weight of 160 tons, for its removal and the insertion of a new one. The operation took place inside the production hall, amidst existing interfering technological equipment, platforms, stairs with railings, and conveyor belts. The new dryer, built on an assembly stand in front of the production hall, replaced the old, worn-out dryer.
The floating dock structure, measuring 128 m in length, 30.5 m in width, 11 m in height, and weighing 2500 tons, built on the quay, was lifted to install the skidding foundation, and then moved using the skidding method onto a submersible pontoon. The dock structure was of such dimensions that it extended beyond the pontoon’s outline. The entire assembly was towed to a depth agreed upon with the Port Authority, where the pontoon was controllably submerged until the dock achieved buoyancy. This is an innovative method for launching vessels, bypassing the use of shipyard docks. In the final stage of the operation, all units were safely towed and moored at the client’s quay.
